Work Experience

Mechanical Engineer, Encoder Products Company
  • Design complex opto-mechanical products using life-cycle development. This included implementing a new ASIC sensor technology into our largest volume consumer electronic product (100,000 units a year).

  • Lead developments and implement manufacturing plans related to special application, deadline driven, fast-paced projects from sales force. This includes managing special application encoders, our largest source of revenue, from concept inception to shipping products.

  • Design, improve, and prototype test fixtures for production. Fixtures include tight tolerancing and features including pneumatics, DC motors, optics, pogo pins, special PCBs, and linear guides. Designed multiple fixtures for optical alignment to ASIC sensor purposes.

  • Produce detailed mechanical drawings that follow proper GD&T requirements and ASME Y14.5 standards.

  • Develop and perform structural/dynamic testing procedures. Perform HALT testing on new products.

  • Using metrology methods to measure complex mechanical parts.

  • Publish engineering documentation such as engineering change orders, first article inspection reports, assembly procedures, quality control instructions, preventative maintenance procedures, BOM’s.

2017-2021
Engineering Intern, Tacoma Water
  • Created a design manual focusing on water main placement, thrust block design, main appurtenances, capacity analysis, corrosion protection, pressure testing, and microbiology testing.

  • Compiled a database of historical bid costs that will be used for mid-level cost estimation for new water distribution projects.

2017
Research Assistant, M3 Robotics
  • Performed research on strategies to implement Micro-Water jet technology to perform incisions and assist steerable needle penetration.

  • Used fluid dynamic principles to determine optimum volumetric flow rates, exit water velocity, and tube diameters that avoid large pressure drops while still achieving a water velocity that will penetrate through human skin.

  • Use Solidworks and 3-D printing for quick prototypes of couplers and fittings.

  • Also, did research on the fabrication of metallic fibers. Utilized nucleopores to filter field's metal and attempt to create micron diameter wires.
